Senior Lobbyist

Jay Wiederhold is a highly accomplished government and legislative affairs professional with over 30 years of comprehensive expertise in public policy, lobbying, and trade association management. He has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership in strategic communication, policy development, and organizational governance throughout his career. His extensive experience includes a notable tenure as President of the Pennsylvania Beer Alliance and various influential staff positions within the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Mr. Wiederhold is particularly adept at building diverse coalitions, crafting impactful legislation that addresses complex challenges, and skillfully navigating intricate regulatory environments.

During his nearly two-decade leadership as President of the Pennsylvania Beer Alliance (July 2005 – March 2025), Jay was responsible for the full scope of operations for the statewide wholesalers’ trade association. This included managing staff, overseeing budgets, driving grassroots engagement, and spearheading strategic initiatives. He directly supervised lobbying activities and collaborated extensively with contract lobbyists, playing a pivotal role in the conceptualization, advancement, and successful passage of significant industry legislation. His key legislative achievements are numerous and include provisions within landmark acts such as Act 39 of 2016, which enabled beer sales in grocery and convenience stores, and Act 57 of 2024, which advanced product placement flexibility. He also initiated advocacy efforts for the development and regulation of Delta-9 THC beverages, showcasing his forward-thinking approach to industry evolution.  He also served as the National President of WBAE from 2014-2015, a position appointed to by his peers.  

Prior to his leadership at the Pennsylvania Beer Alliance, Jay held several roles within the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As Executive Director of the House Liquor Control Committee (March 2001 – July 2005), he developed and managed legislation impacting the state’s alcohol industry and served as the primary staff liaison on liquor issues. His responsibilities also included providing detailed briefings to the Republican Caucus and addressing complex constituent concerns. Earlier, as a Special Projects Coordinator for House Republican Research (July 1998 – March 2001) and a Research Analyst for the House Finance Committee (June 1994 – July 1998), he was instrumental in leading policy research initiatives, drafting and analyzing state tax & small games legislation, and providing essential legislative support.

A graduate of Penn State University, Harrisburg with a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, Jay combines his robust educational background with a comprehensive skill set that includes strategic communication, legislative drafting, and grassroots advocacy. His contributions and influence have been recognized through prestigious awards such as the 2014 NBWA Public Affairs Award, inclusion in the 2023 Pennsylvania Government Relations Power 100, and being honored as a 2024 City and State 50 over 50 Honoree. Beyond his professional endeavors, he has contributed to community development as the Founder/Owner and Head Coach of the Hampden Hurricanes Travel Baseball organization. A proud native of Pottsville, PA, Jay is happily married to his wife Kendra, and a father of three. He currently resides in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, with his wife and youngest son. Outside of his professional life, Jay is passionate about sports, keenly follows politics, and cherishes time spent enjoying life & travel with his family and friends.
